QuestMaker started with a birthday present and a ringtone.

When my daughter was ready for her first cell phone, I didn't want to just hand it to her. I wanted to make it memorable. So I built a custom web app treasure hunt with clues that led her around the house, each one leading to the next.

The final clue? It asked for a phone number as the answer. When she entered it, the phone rang from its hiding spot, playing a ringtone I had set up that sang "Happy Birthday." The app exploded with animated fireworks.

The look on her face was priceless. That moment became one of our favorite family memories.

It became a tradition

Several years later, I built another custom web app for Christmas morning. This one let both my kids play simultaneously, racing around the house and yard for clues that ultimately led to their gifts. Complete with a winter theme, falling snow effects, music, and sound effects, it turned a simple present into an experience they still talk about.

That's when I realized: the hunt itself is the gift.

Why I built QuestMaker

After building these custom apps from scratch, I knew there had to be an easier way. I wanted other parents, teachers, and event planners to create the same kinds of memorable experiences without needing to code their own solutions.
